coming home

Eric is glad that he’s a senior and graduating high school.   He’s at the pizza shop with friends and chatting. He looks at his watch. “Well I got to go.” He heads toward the door.
“We’ll catch you later.” They tell him.

He comes home and puts down his stuff. Then grabs a drink of Pepsi.  His dad is in the kitchen telling him about a group that he should stay away from. They are in another town but a few of them come here sometimes.  He doesn’t know why  his father are aginst them. He’s heard the negative things, but still is not sure what to believe since he doesn't know them that well.

He does his homework and then goes to bed.  Eric is walking down the street when he sees a young man in his 20’s who looks similar to him, and is motioning for him to follow him. Who is this person, he wonders.  He starts to follow him out of curiosity, into a forest.  He wakes up and wonders what it meant.

The next night, he dreams he sees a young lady motioning him to follow her. He still can’t figure out who they are.

Eric and a couple friends go to the music store after school. They check out CD's and listen to samples.  He likes a variety of music, rock, dance, mellow, etc. "Check out this one." His friend says. Eric put the headphones on and listens. It's sounds okay. "Pretty cool." Eric says.
"Has this ever happened to you, Eric asks his friend, where you keep having the same dream over and over and you don't know what it means?"
His friend thinks about it and answers, "Yea, maybe. Not recently though. Why, are you having one of those?"
"Yea, for a week, I've been having a reoccurring dream."
"Interesting."

In the morning, his parents, George and Kimberly are having coffee and talking. "Something doesn't seem right about Eric." George says.
"What do you think it is." She asks.
"I don't know, but I hope it's not memories coming back."
While heading of to class, his parents stopped to speak to him. "Is there something bothering you, that you want to tell us about?" His mother asked. That's weird. Why is she asking that?
"No, I'm fine."
"Well, if there is, you can tell us."
"Thanks."

While walking outside with a couple of friends, Eric finds a forest that he didn’t pay attention to before.   He thinks about the dream and the people motioning to him to follow. "Hey guys lets look in here." Eric says. Him and his friends take a look in the forest and find it fascinating. Tall trees all around them with many branches and leaves. The sun shines through the branches creating a sparkling scene.   One of his friends says, "We shouldn’t be in here, it’s dangerous with animals."
Eric wondered how a place this pretty could be dangerous. Then again, it probably does have animals that wander at night.  It's still light though, but they probably should get home. They look a little bit more through the forest and then leave.

Eric and his parents are having dinner. His dad says to him calmly, "I saw you go in that forest when I was driving. You shouldn’t go in there. It’s a dangerous place. Plus, it could lead to the other side. Why did you go there?"
Eric didn't know what to say. Should I tell them about the dream?
"I don't know, just curious."
"Well be careful." George said.
Eric was torn.  His father telling him to stay away from that place, but the dream was telling him to come.  Who were the people in the dream, and why did they want him to go with them?  He didn't argue, just said, "K, I won't do that again."
"You sure you are okay?" His mother asked.
"Yes, I'm fine." This is getting annoying.  They think I'm nuts. Maybe I am, but I don't think so. It's just a dream that won't go away.  Better keep this under wraps so they don't start suggesting professionals.

Gavi is 22. He lives away from home, works, and is studying part time to be an accountant. Sometimes, he comes back to visit his family. Esther, his sister is 20, studying psychology and works in graphic design.

That weekend, Gavi is home and him and his sister are in the kitchen standing by the counter and looking on the laptop to find their missing brother Eli. They tell their parents who are sitting at the table abut the information they found.
"Hopefully, he is there in that town Stone Lake” Esther said, looking at the computer and then her parents. She and her family are trying to stay hopeful.
"We have to move quickly." Mr. Light says.
"We'll keep doing what we can until we find him." Gavi says.
"We know." His mother says appreciatively.

The family has been trying to bring him back for seven years, but didn’t succeed.  Mr. and Mrs. Light still have a spark of hope in their eyes. There have been times when they felt it was hopeless, but they didn't want to give up. They try to keep their resolve.
Mr. and Mrs. Light and their son and daughter have been gathering information that could lead them to find Mr. Light's brother and sister in law who have Eric, so they can find the teen.
Over the years. every time the couple tries to bring back their son, they weren't able to  because Mr. Light’s brother and sister in-law keep moving to other places.  The couple loses track of his brother and can’t find him anymore.  But they keep trying, and keep praying and praying to find him and bring him home.

Gavi and Esther look into different public schools in the area and finally find the one he is in.  They see him in the yard with his friends. They wait.  He leaves the yard and starts walking home alone. They slowly walk up and greet him, “Hi. I’m Gavi and she is Esther.”
Eric, kind of startled, looks at them. They look very familiar. He is kind of spooked out.
He's not sure whether or not to mention it, then says,
“You both were in my dream. Who are you?”
“This sounds crazy but, we are your brother and sister.” Gavi says.
Now Eric is really confused.  He just looks at them and doesn‘t know what to say.
“Let us explain, here’s what happened” Esther tells him the story.
“When you were ten, we were in a car accident. We were all okay, but you had amnesia.  Our parents and us came to your room and stayed with you. Then Gavi and I went home, but our parents stayed. Dad’s brother came to visit and our parents went to grab some coffee. When they came back, you were gone. And we have been trying to find you ever since. Thank G-d, we finally found you.”

He was Speechless. So many questions going through his head.
“You sure it’s me?” Eric said.
“You had that dream right?” Esther replied.
“Yea.”
“Then yes.”
Esther takes out a picture of when the three of them were younger. Eric was ten in the picture. It's him alright.
“I need to go home and process this.” Eric said. This was too much for him.
They didn’t want to let him go, they just found him. But they can’t just force him, they need to do this properly.
They got his cell phone number so they can reach him.
“We will be in touch.” Gavi said.

Later, they spoke to him by phone. Eric is in his room.   “What should I do about the family I’m with? I can't just leave. I don't want to. This is my home.” Eric said.
"We understand." Esther says.  "This is must be very confusing for you. But we have been looking for you for years, and finally found you."
"I understand, but even if I do want to go, they won't let me." Eric says.
“We know they won’t let go so easily."  Gavi replies. "But we'll take care of this, don't worry."
Eric can imagine the anger from whom he thought is his father. The rage in his face. Chills ran down his spine.
"We'll come for you tomorrow night. Pack quickly and leave quietly." Gavi says.
The idea seemed kind of overwhelming to Eric. He wasn't sure if he can do it.
“By the way, where are we going?”
“It’s the other town nearby, Golden Park.” Esther replied.
When he heard that, he froze.  “Wait, isn’t that a Jewish community?”
“Yes.” Gavi answered.
“Wait, are you..?”
“Yes.”
“Me too?”
“Yes. Our father became Jewish at 25 and married a Jewish woman. His brother didn’t take it well and was upset about his decision and took revenge years later. Gavi said.

That sounds about right. Now Eric kind of understands the negative remarks at home.
“Well, I guess I’ll talk to you later.” Eric says.
“We will see you tomorrow, be ready.” Gavi says.

The next night, Eric is lying on his bed, amazed and bewildered at the idea that he is not what he thought he is, but someone else. He has mixed feelings about leaving, but if they are his family, then he wants to be with them. He's not sure how they are going to pull off this escape and is nervous about getting caught. He packs his clothes, his lap top, and some other things. He looks around trying to have one last glance before he leaves.

Gavi and Esther drive up to the house.  Eric receives a text. “We’re here.”
“I’m coming.” He writes back.
He gathers his stuff and looks around his room.  He quietly tries to leave. Fortunately, it’s dark. He makes his way to the front door and then he hears someone behind him.  The lights come on and he hears, “Where are you going?”
Eric freezes. “Um.” He didn’t know what to say. But then found something.
“I’m going to a friend’s house. We are having a study session. I’m sleeping over, that’s why I’m packed.”
Gavi and Esther were still waiting. “What’s taking so long?” She asked. “Should we go in there?”
“Yeah.” Gavi said.

Gavi and Esther enter.  Eric says, “Oh good it’s you. These are my study partners.”

If these are your study partners, then why do you have to sneak out?” The man asked.

Eric was scrambling for words. The man went to a cabinet, then came back.

“You know what I think? I think you are trying to run away and they are helping.”
The man shows his gun.  Eric is petrified. He hears his heart pounding. Gavi and Esther have a plain expression.

“Get out of my house!” He screams to Gavi and Esther.
They just stand there.
“Not without Eric.” Gavi says softly but firmly.
“If you don’t leave, I’ll shoot.” The man says.
“Shoot.”
The man is perplexed. Nothing is fazing them.
His wife calls out from upstairs, “Is everything okay?”
He turns to her voice. “Yea, it’s fine.”
He tells them, “Fine you all go, but this is not over.”

They go to the car. Eric can't believed what he just saw.
“How did you do that?” Eric asked.
“You do what you got to do for family, and G-d takes care of the rest.” Gavi says.
“There is a phrase, Esther continues, ‘Ein od milvado, there is nothing else.’  Man is not in charge. G-d controls the world, and is our Protector.”
“While there's challenges, we as a nation make it through, with G-d’s help.”  Gavi says.

They go home and Eric looks around the place. It’s so weird.
“Do you remember anything?” Gavi asks.
Eric tries to think back.  At the moment, he can’t really recall much from his life before the amnesia. He’s disappointed.
“It’s okay. Esther says. It will come back.”

“There’s something that I could never understand. Eric says. “Why is my dad, I mean our uncle so against our people?”

“Well, probably like other anti Semites, he can‘t stand what we represent. Truth and morals.  The world doesn’t want to know the truth and be bogged down by morals.  We spread it and the world can’t stand it.” Esther says.

Eli(Eric) is slowly becoming adjusted to home.  Gavi and Eli go to shul and Gavi gives him a siddur to see if he still remembers how to read the Hebrew prayers. He reads very slowly, but still remembers. Eli and Gavi study together either at home or in the beit midrash. Slowly some things come back to him.

Esther and her friend Dina are helping a kiruv organization with their website.
They are sitting with Dina's laptop computer at a coffee shop and looking at the site. “Let’s put the logo over here.” Dina says. She moves the text to where it should go. “Should we change the layout, or keep it how it is?” Esther asks.
“It could use more pics, just a little more.” Dina said.
They look at the site some more and make more adjustments.
"Have you gotten anymore clients for your graphic work?" Dina asks.
Esther looks at her, "Just one more so far. Could use more, but this is probably best for my schedule."
"Things are usually slow in the beginning, but it will pick up hopefully." Dina says.
"Amen."

Sometimes, Eli and Gavi go work with Gavi’s friends Daniel and Ezra who are also brothers. They meet at the library and are working on a computer app which mentions news and events for the community. The four guys sit at a table and Daniel opens the app. “Cool project. When do you think it will be ready?” Eli asks.
“Probably in a month.” Daniel replies.
“The community could use something like this.” Ezra says.
The others agree.

Esther and Dina are walking on the college campus.  While talking to each other, they head to a Jewish learning and activity club. There are both religious and secular Jews there.  Esther and Dina strike up a nice conversation with some of the others there.
They find out that this nice student Emily is planning to go with her group of friends to a party Friday night. Another student Mike comes over to them and asks if she means the one next Friday.
“Yes. Emily says.
“I’m going too.  Mike says.
Esther asks, “What’s so interesting about it?”
Emily answers, “Because it’s fun. Plus, our friends begged us to come."
Esther says, “Do you really want to go?”
“Yeah” Emily and Mike reply.
“The thing is we want to fit in.” Emily says.
“I got a better idea. Esther says, how about if you both join my family for a Shabbat meal Friday night.”
“Or mine.” Dina said.
It was an odd but interesting invitation. Mike and Emily hesitated and then Emily said, "Thanks, we'll think about it."

The students Mike and Emily show up at Esther’s parent’s house.  The place smelled delicious with chicken and potato kugel. Esther and her mom lit the candles and said a blessing. Later, the family and the guests sat down to dinner.  It wasn't a college party, but it was nice and serene.
"What are you studying?"  Gavi asked Mike.
"I'm studying engineering."
"Cool. Is there anything specific you want to do?"
"I was thinking about working with planes."
"Very nice." Gavi says.
Emily was eating the soup. She looked up and looked around. It was so refreshing to stop all the work and just relax. Esther asked her, "How many siblings do you have?"
"Two." Emily replied.
"Very nice. Do they live here or somewhere else?"
"One sister is here and the other one is in Canada."
"Cool." Emily replied.

The young women continued talking about different things. Gavi and his father sang some Shabbos songs together. Mike and Emily enjoyed the melody.  After dinner, Mike and Emily said to Esther, Gavi, Eli and their parents, “Thanks so much, it was really nice being here.”
“You are welcome. The parents said. Come anytime you want.”

Mike and Emily had a nice time. They mention about their experience to student friend on campus while eating lunch.
“Sounds nice, but I’m not into that.’ The student Zack says.

Mike meets with Gavi and Eli, and their friends Daniel and Ezra at Coffee Bean. They  order some stuff and then go sit down at a table. “What classes are you taking.”  Daniel asks Mike.
“Engineering, political science, computer programming, and a couple electives.” Mike answers.
“That’s quite a good load.” Daniel says. "Sounds good."
Mikes asks Daniel what he does. He responds, "I write a column for a community paper.
Plus, I'm working on a computer app."
"What is it for."
"Just news and events for the our neighborhood."
Mike nods.
They guys drink their coffee and talk more about different things.  Before they leave, they ask Mike if he would like to join them in learning session on any Jewish topic he would like.  He says he’ll think about it.

Esther, Dina and Emily go have some pizza and schmooze. “How does the website you are working coming out?“ Emily asked them.
“It looks great, Baruch Hashem.  Hopefully, it does the trick.” Dina said.
Esther mentions that she has a certain assignment in psychology class where they need to show a short paragraph to people, and see how different people view the topic.
“That’s fascinating.” Emily says.  The three of them go to a book store and sit at a table on the balcony.
“I think the paragraph is asking what’s more important, always helping someone, or teaching them to do it themselves?” Emily says.  “I think it depends on the person.”
She continues. “If it’s a baby, you need to help them walk at first. Then when they are ready, you can let go and let them do it. Where as an elderly person, you should help them with what they need. And what they are able to do on their own and safely, you let them do.”

Dina puts in, “On the surface, it might look like you are taking away your chesed by not helping the baby, for example, as much as before. You see the baby struggling to walk. But really, you are just trying to help them do it themselves. And that’s a bigger chesed. Of course, there’s the motivation. Part of it is you don’t want to keep doing it for the child, and part of it is you care about them and their independence. And you know they can do it.” Dina says.
“This is a good lead into our learning.” Esther says. Their discussion turns to learning Pirkei Avos and the lessons in there.

Mike drives up to the shul building. He didn't think he would be doing this but that Shabbat experience had intrigued him. He figured it couldn't hurt to learn more. He walks inside. The walls are lined with books and there are tables and chairs with people sitting and learning. It's a small beit madrash near Gavi and Eli’s house. The two brothers greet him. "Hey, how are you?"
"Nice place here." Mike said while looking around.
"Yeah." Eli said.
"So what would you like to learn?" Gavi asked. He gave him different suggestions
and Mike chose the weekly Parsha. While learning, he remembers some things he heard as a kid in school, but it was just stories. Here however, it's brought to life.
Mike mentions to Gavi that he has a friend named Zach who could also benefit from this, but Zach isn’t interested.  Gavi reassures him, while it might be difficult, it’s not impossible. "We all have a spark, we just need to light it."

The next morning, the young men are in the beit madrash, including their friend Mike and a few others that have joined. They are putting away their tefillin into their tefillin bag. Then they go have breakfast.  Afterwards, they go learn.
George Light drives up to the place with his friend who is an investigator.  “They are a cult. I’ll show you.” He tells his friend. They go inside the front hall and look in the door window to the room inside. They see them learning. “You see, they are brainwashing them.”  George says.
“We don’t know that. It’s looks like they are just learning.”
“Let’s go in and find out.” George says. He tries the door, but it’s locked. “That’s weird. It’s usually open.”  He feels that something is going on.
A few minutes later, Eli goes into the hallway.  He’s surprised to see his uncle.
“What brings you here? He asks curiously.
“Just wanted to see how you were doing. By the way, why is the door locked? Isn’t it usually open?”
“Yea, I guess someone locked it. How do you know it’s usually open?”
“I just figured it would be. But it wasn‘t, maybe you figured I would come and locked it.” George said.
“No, how would I know?” That was a weird assumption from his uncle, but not too surprising. Anger could make anyone think irrationally.  George and his friend leave.

While driving home later that day, Eli was thinking about his encounter with George.   Eli goes inside the house and put down his stuff. Esther was reading a book at the table. He sat down and told his sister what happened. "George came to the beit midrash."
She had a concerned look. "Do you think he's planning something?"
"I don't know, I hope not."
They were hoping that he just came to visit, but they knew that it was probably more than that.

While having lunch at the pizza shop, Gavi and Mike and Zach are talking to each other. Then they go outside and walk down the block. Gavi says, "The offer is still open to join our learning group if you want."  Zach thinks about it and says, "I don't know, maybe another time."

Their uncle George Light is walking and see’s these three young men talking to each other outside.  He notices Zach’s expression and decline.  He has an idea.
George decides to hire Zach to work at his accounting company doing a little book keeping.

Their parents Mr. and Mrs. Light, go traveling to Israel and are away for a short while.

George goes to an electronics store and buys a laptop. While at home he puts some false information on it. Later, at work, he gives the lap top to Zach and tells him to leave it at Gavi and Eli’s parents house the next time he meets them. He explains that Eli left it behind by mistake at his house and forgot to take it home.

It was Sunday and the brothers were both at home about to go to pizza as usual. Then  there was a knock on the door. Eli went and answered it.  It was the police. Eli was bewildered. What did the police want? Gavi came into the room and stopped in his tracks.
"Good afternoon officer. How can we help you?" Eli said.
The police said that they just want to take them to the station for questioning.
About what? The brother's wondered.
At the station, Eli and Gavi learn that their uncle George is accusing them of stealing from the company he works with. They are surprised with the accusation.  Gavi says calmly, "Look officer, our uncle is just upset and wants to blame us for something. We didn't anything, there's no proof."
The uncle suggests the police check their computers at home. They check their desktop but there is nothing there. Then they find a laptop. The browser history shows them looking into their uncle’s account at work.  Gavi and Eli try to explain that the lap top is not even theirs. Someone left it there. Eli's lap top is at his friend Daniel's house because  he left it there while they were working on the computer project. And Gavi's laptop is at his own apartment.

The police ask the uncle for motive. He tries to explain their motive for doing this. He mentions, "I took care of my nephew when he was younger, after the boy and his family were in an accident.  I grew a strong family bond with him and decided to let him stay a while. Part of that time, he went to boarding school. Then came back and went to public school.  But his brother and sister feel that I took him away, and they want revenge."

The brothers deny it and have their own side of the story.  "That's not really the whole story." Gavi says. "Our uncle is upset at our father and took our brother out of revenge." They explain what happened and tell the story about their father and uncle.

The next day while at home, Eli is on the phone with Gavi.  Esther is using another receiver.  They are trying figure out how to clear their name.   "How did that lap top with that info get in here?" Esther asked.
"Wondering the same." Gavi said.
"Someone must have planted it, but who?" Eli wondered.
They pray for help, and then look on the computer to see what they can find out about what is really going on with this situation.
"First, we should find out if this theft actually happened, or did he make it up?"

Esther and Dina are walking on the campus. They meet up with Emily and they walk over to a coffee shop and buy some coffee.  Esther brought her lab top with. "This is what we've been working on." Esther shows Emily.
"Cool" Emily says.
“It’s basically done. Just needs some finishing touches” Dina says.
They look at the site some more and then Esther asks Emily,
“What are you doing this summer?”
“Going to Israel. Emily replies. I was there a couple years ago with friends and we toured around and went hiking and other things. It was fun. What are you doing?”
Esther replies, “Well I was just going to continue working with Dina on sites, but I like your idea.”
“We should do a group trip.” Dina says. I remember when Esther and I were there with our families when we were ten. Later we came again for seminary.”
“What year was that? The first time.” Emily asks.
“2002” Dina says.
Emily looks pleasantly surprised. “I was there too with my family.”
“Very interesting.” Esther said. They marvel at the Divine Providence and they start learning Pirkei Avos together.

Gavi, Eli and Esther go during the day to their uncle's house to check his computer. "He's at work. I still have a key from before." Eli says.  He's glad he kept it. They go inside and check to see if they can find something. Indeed, it shows that George has been taking from the company. "Well, that explains it." Gavi says.

The next day, Gavi and Eli are riding in the car when they notice that they are being followed. They try to lose the other car, but it keeps following them. They turn left and later turn right. But it’s still on their tale. Finally, after ten minutes, they lose the other car. “What was that?” Eli asked.
“No idea.” Gavi said.

Eli meets Mike at the pizza shop. They talk about different things and then Mike says, “I’m worried about Zach.”
“Why?”
“Because, I think he’s working at the place your uncle works at.”
“How do you know?” Eli asks.
“He told me.”
“Do you think my uncle might try to influence him?”
“I don’t know, I hope not.”

Their parents Mr. and Mrs. Light come back from their trip and find out what happened and that their sons are being accused. The couple is sitting in the kitchen. Eli told them what's going on. They are totally bewildered and taken aback.
Mr. Light says, “This is crazy. We need to solve this once and for all. It can't go on like this.”
“What are you going to do?” His wife Rivka asks.
“I’ll confront him. He’s my brother. Hopefully, with G-d’s help, we’ll work it out.”
They all hope so.

Eli sees Zach while walking home and he walks up to him. Zach doesn’t want to talk to him.
Eli doesn’t know what’s wrong.
How could you do that?” Zach asked angrily.
“Do what?”
“Take from the company.”
“I didn’t do it.”
“If you are so good, how do you steal from them like that.”
Apparently Zach didn't know the whole story but only Geoge's side.
“Look, whatever my uncle told you is not true. My brother and I didn’t take anything from that company.”
“Then why did he tell me that.”
“It’s because he’s upset at me and my brother and father about something and is trying to get back at us. Long story.
---

Akiva Light goes to his brother's house and confronts him.
“Why are you doing this?” Mr. Light asks his brother.
“You were always trying to do better. George says. You’re an over achiever. I was pretty good at school. But you always had to be better. I would receive B grades, which I liked, but you got A’s and overshadowed me. Later, you had to go and join a group of over achievers. You took on foreign beliefs and rituals, which is fine if it’s just you, but your kids want to spread it out.”

“I’m sorry you went through that when we were younger.” Akiva Light said sympathetically. “I didn’t mean to overshadow you. I apologize if I did that. I guess I just didn’t realize what you were going through. But just to be clear, I didn’t become Jewish to join achievers.  I became Jewish because my soul was desiring it. I felt a deep pull towards this life. The beliefs, the values and mitzvos were calling me.  That’s why I did it.”
His brother George is quiet. Then says, “I understand, but still how can you believe in that?”
Akiva answers, “If you open yourself up to the World Beyond this, it’s not hard.”

Eli and Gavi are cleared and they are no longer charged. They feel relieved. However, George still has to deal with the fact that he took money from the company.  He is standing in the office about to tell the head of the company that he did it, but then cowards and puts the blame on Zach.
A man goes up to Zach and asks him to follow him to the boss’ office. Zach doesn’t understand what is going on and is very nervous. He stands in front of the boss, his heart beating quickly.
“Why did you do it?”
“I….” He didn’t know what to say. He looked at George. George felt sorry, but didn’t say anything. He feels bad about doing this to him,  but he didn’t know what else to do. He couldn’t afford to lose his job.

Zach talks to Mike on campus and told him what happened.
"I don’t understand, now they are blaming me, why?”
“It is George, he did it to Eli and Gavi and now you.” Mike said.

George is sitting at work and feels bad about what he did, but he didn’t know what else to do. He couldn’t afford to lose his job.

Mike is at home and calls Eli and Gavi.
“Hey Mike what’s up?” Eli asks. The brothers are at home reading stuff on their laptops when he called.
“Nothing much. I‘m calling because I‘m concerned about Zach.”
“What’s wrong?” Gavi asks.
“It’s George, he now has accused Zach. We have to help him.”
Gavi reassures him, "We'll do what we can so he doesn't get too deep in trouble."

On Sunday, Zach meets Eli and Gavi at the pizza shop. He tells them  “I’m so nervous. They are powerful, who knows what they’ll do?”
Eli and Gavi try to calm him. “Don’t worry, we’ll figure something out.”
Zach is not too sure, but he hopes they figure something out.
The brothers try to keep his mind occupied on other things in the mean time, and they talk about other things like sports.

Gavi and Eli go to their uncle's work and talk to him about telling the truth and letting Zach go.
“It’s the right thing to do. You don’t want an innocent person to go to jail.” Gavi says.
After thinking about it, their uncle gives in and says that he'll talk to his boss and tell him he did it. George reluctantly heads towards his boss's office.

While at Starbucks, Mike, Eli and Zach are talking about different things while having some coffee. Zach is glad that he is off the hook. Eli and Mike are glad too.
Mike and Eli try to encourage Zach to come learn with them.
“What’s stopping you from joining us?” Eli asks curiously.
“I don’t know. I’m not spiritual and into rituals. Zach says.
“What about just learning some things so you have an idea of what it’s about and then decide?” Mike asked.
Zach thinks about it and says, “What’s so important about it?”

“Several things.” Eli says. “We are entitled to know our heritage. We have a mission since long ago, to learn and keep the mitzvos. Plus, it nourishes our soul and brings blessing to the world. If, you‘re not sure, you can find out yourself.” Eli smiles.

“I guess so. It’s just that if I learn all this, I need to change my whole life and have a bunch of rules. How do you do it?”

“For one thing, one step at a time so it’s not too overwhelming.” Eli says.
“Exactly.” Mike adds in.  “That’s how I’m doing it. And trust me, the more you learn, the more you want to know.”
